Tourism
There are abundant tourism and recreational attractions in
Muhlenberg County. Lake Malone, spanning 788 acres in
southern Muhlenberg County, provides water recreation such as
swimming, boating, and fishing. The lake and surrounding
hardwood forest form Lake Malone State Park, where camping is also
available. Peabody Wildlife Management
area provides a large number of hunting and fishing areas
for sportmsen. Muhlenberg County Rails to Trails is a
six mile walking, biking, and fitness trail between Greenville and
Central City. Walking trails are also available in Dunmor,
Beechmont, and Bremen. Paradise Park in Powderly is a replica
of a 1920's coal-mining town featuring the birthplace home of the
late Merle Travis. The nicely shaded park area includes a
picnic area for family outings. The Brizendine Brothers
Nature Park is a pristine 12-acre woodland located adjacent to the
Muhlenberg South Middle School in Greenville. Central City
Convention Center is a state-of-the-art facility that has
group fitness rooms, raquetball courts, a gymnasium, competition
sized swimming pool, therapy pool, sauna, and classes in many many
types of physical fitness.
